Siddipet: The victims of a road accident staged a rasta roko on Rajiv Rahadari near Gouraram police station on Wednesday, accusing the Gajwel rural inspector of favouring the accused person rather than supporting the victims.
Two persons died after a speeding car hit a stationary auto and under its impact the auto rickshaw dashed against a pedestrian Kaithi Sathaiah. Lakshmi, wife of the auto driver who was in the auto rickshaw and the pedestrian Sathaiah died in the road accident.
The auto rickshaw was completely damaged in the mishap and worried over the plight of the family, the kin of Srinivas and residents of Vemulghat reached the police station on Wednesday and pleaded with the Inspector D Ravi Raj to help them to secure some compensation from the car owner to support the family.
However, the victim’s kin accused that the police favoured the car driver. Since there was no insurance on the car, the police planned to register a case on the auto driver since the auto had insurance to get compensation for pedestrian Sathaiah and victims of the accident.
Shocked over the behaviour of police, the victim’s kin took to the road and staged a flash rasta-roko on Rajiv Rahadhari, blocking the traffic. They raised slogans denouncing the behaviour of police. The police had given another shock by filing cases against 11 persons for blocking the road by evening.
