Siddipet: An Army jawan from Telangana has been reported missing in Punjab after telling his wife he wanted to end his life.
Anil (30), a resident of Inapur in Komuravelly mandal, joined the Army about 10 years ago and was promoted earlier this year. He had recently completed training in Secunderabad and was on 18 days’ leave. On August 6, he left for Ambala, Punjab, to join duty and reported on August 8.
According to his wife Anusha, Anil made a video call to her at 3.30 pm on August 8, saying he was depressed and wanted to end his life, without revealing the reason. She contacted his colleagues, who assured her he was performing duties normally, but later that night, around 9.30 pm, they informed her he had gone missing.
Since then, Army officials have been unable to trace him. Anusha and her family lodged a complaint at Komuravelly police station, which alerted Punjab police. However, there has been no breakthrough so far.
Anusha appealed to both the Telangana and Union governments to help trace her husband at the earliest.
