Siddipet: People in Siddipet district erupted in protests on Sunday after the Special Investigation Team (SIT) summoned former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao.
As Rao was preparing to leave his Erravelli residence for Nandi Nagar, villagers along the route were seen waiting to greet the leader and extend their support.
Villagers from Erravelli gathered outside Rao’s residence, staging a protest and raising slogans against Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, accusing him of harassing Rao and other BRS leaders out of political vendetta.
BRS workers, led by former Gajwel Market Committee chairman Madasu Srinivas, burned an effigy of Revanth Reddy at Ahmedhipur in Gajwel. BRS workers from Mittapally in Siddipet mandal also staged a protest and burned the Chief Minister’s effigy.
Similarly, BRS leaders organised protests in villages, mandal headquarters and the district headquarters, with citizens joining the demonstrations voluntarily.
