Siddipet: An excise constable allegedly beat a man Swamy, who was serving in a permit room close to a wine shop in Husnabad town, sparking widespread protests from his friends.

According to locals, the excise constable Malla Reddy working in Husnabad went to the permit room on Friday and asked for a glass free of cost. However, the shop assistant, who was in Hanuman mala, asked for money but Malla Reddy refused to pay and picked up an argument. The constable slapped the man when he called his friends and informed them about the incident. The Hanuman devotees from across the town gathered at the excise office and demanded stern action against the constable. They staged a protest raising slogans against him.
