Siddipet: Finance Minister T Harish Rao has asked the officials to set up a 50-bed exclusive ward to treat the patients suffering from Black Fungus (mucormycosis) at Government Medical College in Siddipet.
To avoid the patients suffering from Mucormycosis requiring to travel all the way to ENT Hospital of Koti in Hyderabad, Rao said that all arrangements have been put in place to even perform surgeries on these patients. Saying that the hospital will be able to perform all the surgeries on Wednesday onwards, Rao said that they have also procured a high end endoscopy monitor besides getting the drugs such as Amphotericin B Vials. The Minister suggested the patients to avoid visiting private hospitals because they are collecting exorbitant fees.
Reviewing the Covid-19 status in Siddipet on Tuesday, Rao suggested the health department officials conduct more tests in the Mandals where more positive cases are being reported. Stating that Siddipet, Cheriyal and Koheda Mandals were reporting more positive cases, Rao has observed that the lockdown has reduced the percentage of positive cases from 30 to 7 per cent.
The Minister has expressed anger for not conducting enough tests even though the government is supplying additional kits. Saying that the district was having 15 thousand kits currently, Rao asked them to conduct the tests on people who were suffering with symptoms. He called upon the officials to put a collective effort to bring down the positive rate to below 5 per cent. When Rao enquired about the number of patients undergoing treatment for Covid-19, Principal Tamila Arasu said that there were 117 patients in which 30 were on ventilator.
Forest Development Corporation Chairman Vanteru Prathap Reddy, Collector Siddipet P Venkatrami Reddy, Additional Collector Muzammil Khan, DRO Chennaiah and others were present.
