Siddipet: Habituated to breaking the transformers and removing the copper for gain, a seasoned thief broke 48 transformers across Siddipet, Janagaon, Medak, Yadadri-Bhongir and Warangal districts in less then a year. The Siddipet police nabbed the man while he was moving suspiciously at Vallampatla in Maddur mandal.

The accused Nandulal alias Madhulal Rajbhar, a migrant worker from Uttar Pradesh who migrated to Hyderabad some two decades ago, had gone to jail in a similar case in 2025 after Bhongir police nabbed him. However, he did not mend his ways even after being released from jail as he went on to damage 48 transformers and took away copper from them.

The accused sold the copper to seven persons who were also nabbed by the police. He reportedly earned Rs 10 lakhs from the thefts. The police recovered Rs 6.70 lakhs, three bikes, a tool kit and three mobile phones from the accused. The accused, who was produced before a court, has been sent to remand. The probe is on.
