Siddipet: Siddipet police have initiated the process for installing 150 CCTV cameras along the busy Rajiv Rahdhari in Gajwel constituency to keep a strict vigil on movement of vehicles. The effort will take the total number of CCTV cameras to 293 along the 92-km stretch of the Rajiv Rahadhari.

ACP Gajwel, Narayana laid the foundation for installing the CCTVs at a cost of Rs one crore from Nagulabanda in Kondapak Mandal to Pragnapur Junction in Gajwel mandal on Sunday. Earlier, police had installed 75 CCTVs from Pragnapur Cross Road to Vantimamidi where the road enters Medchal-Malkajgiri district.

Siddipet has a 92 km stretch in the district. It passes through Gajwel, Siddipet, Husnabad and Manakondur constituencies.  A total of 68 CCTVs will be installed from Ponnala dhaba to Bejjanki Cross road to cover the remaining stretch that passes through Siddipet mandal, Siddipet Rural, Chinnakodur Koheda and Bejjanki mandals. All the CCTV cameras are integrated with the Command and Control room located in the Police Commissionerate to monitor the movement of vehicles regularly.

Narayana said the CCTVs will help police crack cases such as hit and run accidents. He said there would be more than three CCTV cameras for every km on the road, and there are plans to install some more.
