Siddipet SNCU

Siddipet: In a rare achievement, the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) located in Siddipet has got the Level (2A) Certificate from National Neonatal Forum (NNF) for providing efficient services on par with Corporate Hospitals to newborn babies. The hospital is just the third SNCU in Telangana to get the rare recognition after the SNCUs located at Gandhi and Niloufer Hospitals in Telangana.

The hospital was having a 20-bed SNCU and 10- bed Kangaroo Care Centre. The facility was also having five CPAP machines, 5 ventilators, 3 High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) machines, ultrasound, X-Ray, 2-D Echo, phototherapy, and other services. The Hospital is known for treating premature babies.

With an objective to reduce the infant mortality rate, Health Minister T Harish Rao has put efforts to set up the SNCU on the premises of Government Hospital Siddipet. As many as 7,770 infants were admitted to the SNCU since it was set up in July 2015, while 2,360 of them were treated through the Kangaroo method.

The SNCU, which was having qualified and trained staff, will provide round-the-clock treatment. Representatives of NNF Dr Srinivas and Dr Surendar made a visit to the SNCU Siddipet to examine the facilities being provided to them. The principal of the Government Medical College Siddipet has said that the entire credit goes to the staff posted at the SNCU since they have been providing relentless services.

Health Minister T Harish Rao has called upon the people of Siddipet district to utilise the services by avoiding visiting private hospitals which usually collect huge fees. As part of the NNF Level (2A) recognition, the SNCU will be allotted two fellows at the SNCU.
