Signature drive launched to save Jubilee Hills playground

Hyderabad: Led by BRS State leader and former TSEWIDC Chairman Ravula Sridhar Reddy, a signature collection drive has been initiated demanding the preservation of the government land currently being utilised as a sports ground by youth from poor, middle-class and marginalised sections of society, and its development into a full-fledged sports facility.
This campaign aims to convey to the government and officials the spontaneous public support received over the past fifteen days for the ongoing struggle. The movement demands that no permanent structures be constructed on the sports ground located in SPR Hills, Rahmat Nagar Division, Jubilee Hills constituency, that the government take measures to preserve the ground for public use, and reconsider the construction projects proposed for the site.
Ravula Sridhar Reddy stated that this government land should be transferred to either the GHMC or the Sports Authority and developed into a full-fledged sports complex, complete with a running track, a volleyball court and all other necessary amenities. The proposal is receiving spontaneous support from the public, as residents are expressing a desire for a sports ground.
He said that signatures were being collected to formally document both public opinion and community support for the sports ground project. He announced that a signature collection drive involving athletes and residents across various local settlements would be conducted over a period of 15 days.
Senior BRS leaders, including Kamatam Narasimha Reddy, Surender Kankata, Mallesh Pallapu, Mahesh Botika, Srisailam Yadav, Sridhar Gaddam, Abdul Ghani, Chapala Krishna, Altaf, Paul, Kiran Yadav, Kurumurthy, Lakshmaiah, Narasimha, Shankar Muddangula, Lingaraju, Sony Ashok, Ramesh Yadav, Rahul Patel, Praveen Errolla and Harish, participated.
