HYDERABAD: BC Commission Chairman G Niranjan said a significant portion of the caste census was not conducted in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits and other urban areas.

He welcomed the Telangana government’s decision to conduct a resurvey of caste census in the State from February 16 to 28. There was a need for special attention to address the low enumeration issue in GHMC, he said at a press conference here on Friday.

To create awareness among households, the Commission members have decided to visit areas, in which the caste enumeration was low. They will be visiting different areas from February 16 to 18.

The Government had decided to enrol responses through toll-free number, which was likely to be announced in a couple of days. This apart, households can upload the details online and at Praja Palana service centres, the BC Commission Chairman said.
