Hyderabad: Why does the stock market rise or fall? How to know which stock to invest in and which ones to avoid? What are the different types of mutual funds? How to save tax?
These and many such questions are being answered by a Hyderabad-born YouTube channel called Convey by FinnovationZ. Started by Prasad Lendwe, the channel operates through the company FinnovationZ and has over 15 lakh subscribers with an average viewership of one lakh per video.
Lendwe set up the company in a small way in 2015 by writing blogs and providing information on stocks, financial instruments, and mutual funds among others. While in the start, he did not have much viewership, his passion did not dwindle and he started putting up videos on YouTube. Slowly, but steadily, the viewership for his channel grew and from one lakh subscribers in 2017, the channel has grown to 15 lakh subscribers in just three years.
“I started learning about the stock market at the age of 17 and during my MBA in Finance course. I started researching and studying on my own about these different instruments and got interested in this segment. However, I was also keen to disseminate this knowledge and that is how the idea of YouTube and blog came about. Once we found our footing in this space, we started getting requests from our viewers about what different topics we can cover and that is how we have grown,” said Lendwe, who now runs a 48-employees company that includes content creators and sales team.
Although most of the content is in Hindi, there are still some videos available in English as well.
However, Lendwe believes that while the English-speaking population has access to a wide variety of content on this subject, it is the Hindi-speaking learners that feel left behind. “That is why we have the majority of our content in Hindi. However, going ahead we are planning to start regional YouTube channels with Marathi already launched,” he said.
