India’s Doubles Stars Satwiksairaj Rankireddy And Chirag Shetty
Hyderabad: India’s premier men’s doubles duo, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, alongside the mixed doubles pair of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto, advanced to the semifinals of the Singapore Open 2026 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Friday.
Fourth seeds Satwik and Chirag staged a brilliant comeback from a game down to eliminate Malaysia’s Kang Khai Xing and Aaron Tai 19-21, 21-17, 21-13 in a grueling 65-minute quarterfinal battle. The Indians fought neck and neck in the second game before forcing a decider, which they dominated to secure their final-four spot. They will next challenge reigning world champions and world No. 1 pair Kim Won Ho and Seo Seung Jae of Korea.
In the mixed doubles category, Dhruv and Tanisha progressed after the third-seeded Malaysian pair of Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei retired mid-match during the opening game. The Indian combination will lock horns with Japan’s Yuichi Shimogami and Sayaka Hobara for a place in the final.
However, it was curtains for India in the singles events. In men’s singles, All England 2026 runner-up Lakshya Sen bowed out after a fighting 19-21, 21-15, 15-21 defeat against Japan’s Koki Watanabe in a 68-minute clash.
Meanwhile, PV Sindhu’s campaign ended in the quarterfinals following a straight-games 21-17, 21-14 loss to world No. 1 An Se Young in a 48-minute encounter. With this victory, the Korean top seed extended her unblemished head-to-head record against the Indian star to 9-0.
