Peddapalli: Expressing strong displeasure over the delays in construction of solar power plants, Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Chairman and Managing Director N Balram on Thursday warned that contracts would be cancelled and defaulting agencies blacklisted if the projects are not completed within the stipulated timelines.

At a review meeting held with officials and contractors at Singareni Bhavan in Hyderabad, Balram directed all stakeholders to expedite pending works, making it clear that no further extensions would be granted beyond October.

The CMD reviewed the progress of the 54.5 MW solar plants under Phase 1 and the 67.5 MW capacity plants under Phase 2. He expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of construction agencies, stating that they had failed to complete the works on time despite Singareni ensuring timely bill payments.

“Agencies must treat this as the final opportunity. If the works are not completed by October, their contracts will be cancelled and they will be blacklisted,” Balram said. He also instructed officials from Singareni Solar to monitor progress closely and work with greater accountability. Any lapse would be reflected in their service records, he added.

He further directed that the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), being installed alongside the 28 MW solar plant at Mandamarri, must be completed by August without fail.

Additionally, Balram ordered the construction of 32.75 MW rooftop solar plants across various Singareni buildings, being undertaken under the Centre’s Surya Ghar Yojana, should be completed by December.
