Peddapalli: The office of Opencast-2 coal mine in the Ramagundam-III area of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) at Ramagiri mandal was submerged in floodwater on Friday.

The Project Manager’s office and the canteen were inundated after the bund of a canal breached due to continuous rainfall over the past two days.

Normally, backwaters from the OCP-2 project are diverted through a canal. However, in recent months, the water has been rerouted to other areas using a reverse pumping system, with the canal kept closed.

The canal bund gave way as the water level swelled following incessant rain. SCCL officials deployed motors to drain the water from the premises.
