Peddapalli: The Singareni Collieries Company Limited is planning a modern shopping complex in Godavarikhani town in the Ramagundam Municipal Corporation limits.

As part of the expansion of business, the SCCL management is preparing plans to develop the commercial complex in the coal belt town. Singareni, which was started with a sole aim to excavate coal, entered into different businesses such as thermal power generation and others to get more benefits. The company is getting the highest income through thermal power generation, bank deposits and opencast mines. As part of more diversification, SCCL has decided to construct a commercial complex in the coal belt town in place of the demolished quarters between Godavarikhani main chowrasta and Bhaskar Rao Bhavan. The proposed land belongs to the Singareni company.

A G plus 1 complex comprising 340 rooms is going to be developed by spending Rs.15 crore. Besides a parking place in front of the shopping complex, a service road would be developed behind it. In this regard, a decision will be taken in the Board of Directors meeting soon. Work on the commercial complex is likely to be started after getting approval.

A few months ago, about 82 residential quarters were demolished in Shivajinagar and Hanuman nagar localities in the name of road widening. Opposing the management’s decision, residents staged protest demonstrations and also submitted a representation at Praja Bhavan, Hyderabad.

Now, the management is planning to construct a commercial complex at that spot.
