The CMD directed TGREDCO officials to explore the possibility of constructing high-rise structures in available open spaces for 201 domestic consumers who lacked rooftops for solar panel installation.
TGNPDCL CMD Karnati Varun Reddy visited Siripuram village in Khammam district.
Khammam: Siripuram village in Madhira Assembly constituency in the district was selected as a solar model village under a pilot project, which aims to set a precedent for sustainable energy practices and solar adoption in the region. TGNPDCL CMD Karnati Varun Reddy along with Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation Limited (TGREDCO) vice chairman and managing director Anila Vavilla and superintendent engineer A Surender visited the village.
They interacted with the villagers explaining the benefits of the project. The village has 1039 domestic consumers and 520 agricultural consumers and a survey for all domestic consumers was completed.
Around 50 percent of agricultural services have been surveyed, with the remainder to be completed within the next three days. Service details were being systematically registered in the PM-Surya Ghar portal to ensure transparency and track progress, Varun Reddy said.
The project was being implemented at zero cost to the consumers to ensure widespread adoption without economic barriers. Consumers could sell surplus electricity back to Discom generating additional revenue to become financially self-sufficient.
The CMD directed TGREDCO officials to explore the possibility of constructing high-rise structures in available open spaces for 201 domestic consumers who lacked rooftops for solar panel installation.
Farmers were encouraged to collaborate with their neighbours and install solar panels collectively in shared agricultural fields, optimising space and resources. Transitioning to solar energy helps protect the environment for future generations, he noted.
By embracing renewable energy, Siripuram could play a pivotal role in mitigating climate risks and promoting sustainable growth in rural Telangana, Varun Reddy said while asking the residents to take advantage of the project and make it a success.
