Kumram Bheem Asifabad: In yet another novel gesture, Koneru Charitable Trust belonging to Sirpur (T) MLA Koneru Konappa will host weddings of 22 financially weak couples on the premises of Annadana Satram, a daily poor feeding centre, in Kaghaznagar on Dec 24. Konappa and his wife Rama Devi will perform the weddings.

Konappa said that he came forward to organise the marriages to express his gratitude to the people of the constituency for electing him thrice. He stated that crockery, almirah, bedsheets and home appliances would be gifted to the couples, besides presenting a Mangala Sutra weighing 3 grams each. He added that a sumptuous lunch would be provided for guests of both bride and groom.

In a record of sorts, Koneru Trust had hosted mass weddings of 124 tribal couples including 21 from neighbouring Maharashtra state at a venue erected near the remote Somini village in Bejjur mandal and on the borders of Telangana and Maharashtra on February 24 in 2020. It had sponsored marriages of 116 pairs in Kaghaznagar in 2018.

Besides, Konappa is operating a Nityannadana Satram, the daily poor feeding programme as a token of gratitude to the electors. He is satiating hunger of about 2,000 persons including rural folks, auto-rickshaw drivers, daily earners, private employees, drivers and conductors of TSRTC and passengers. He had commenced the initiative in June of 2020.

Koneru Charitable Trust provided 90-day long quality coaching for the convenience of the aspirants of teacher jobs from February to April in 2021. Over 1,300 candidates belonging to Sirpur (T) constituency and surrounding Asifabad, Bellampalli, Chennur, Mancherial, Peddapalli and Jagtial segments were benefited from the initiative.
