Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao hailed the successful lifting of water from the Sitarama Lift Irrigation Project, calling it the fulfillment of a long-cherished dream of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. “With the successful lifting of water from the Sitarama Project, agricultural lands under the Sagar ayacut will flourish,” he said.
Designed to interlink Godavari River water with the Nagarjuna Sagar Canal carrying Krishna River water, the project was expected to revitalise lakhs of acres under the Nagarjuna Sagar Left Canal in Telangana, ensuring a steady water supply to farmers, he said, adding that the Sitarama project offered a permanent solution to the irrigation needs of Khammam, Bhadradri-Kothagudem, Suryapet and Mahabubabad districts.
