Sivakarthikeyan tells Anirudh: Continue to remain jolly and give us hit songs to vibe!
At the Madharaasi trailer launch, Sivakarthikeyan joked that Anirudh should remain single if it means more hit songs, while also praising the composer as an inspiration on handling success.
Chennai: Actor Sivakarthikeyan, who shares a close bond with music director Anirudh, recently joked about his friend’s single status, saying that when given a choice between Anirudh’s marriage or more hit songs, he chose the latter.
Speaking at the trailer launch event of his film Madharaasi, directed by A R Murugadoss, Sivakarthikeyan opened up about his long-time collaboration with Anirudh and why their combination has been so successful.
In a lighter vein, he recalled how, like many others, he too had suggested that Anirudh get married—so that the music director would also have to answer to someone every night.
“Everybody keeps asking why Anirudh is not getting married. We too have told him, ‘Ani sir, get married sir. Why should we alone be the ones getting calls once the clock hits 8 at night, answering questions like, ‘Where are you?’ or ‘When will you come home?’” Sivakarthikeyan quipped.
He added, “This man (Anirudh), on the other hand, wakes up at 8 pm happily, wondering if he should work that day or not. On such occasions, I would ask him, ‘Why are you not getting married?’ and Anirudh would reply, ‘Let it go, I am jolly (very happy).’ Then I realised, if he is jolly, we get hit songs. So I thought, do we want songs or marriage? And I decided what we really want are hit songs.”
Turning to Anirudh, he concluded: “Therefore, you continue to remain jolly sir, and keep giving us hit songs to vibe.”
On a serious note, Sivakarthikeyan added that Anirudh is a huge inspiration, “not just for success, but also for how to handle success.”
