Six arrested for kidnapping Nirmal DCCB chairman Harish Kumar

Nirmal: Police cracked the mystery behind the sensational kidnapping of District Co-operative Central Bank (DCCB) chairman Harish Kumar and the theft of gold and cash from his residence by arresting six persons on Friday. Two cars, a gold chain, six mobile phones, two knives, and Rs. 2,000 in cash were seized from the accused.
Briefing the media, Nirmal Superintendent of Police Dr. Janaki Sharmila said the arrested included Shaik Haidar, a former driver of Harish Kumar, along with Banala Prince, Thatturi Ravi, Kalakanti Suresh, Gudem Koteshwar Rao, and Madusudhan. They were involved in the abduction and in demanding a ransom of Rs. 3 crore from Harish in the early hours of June 15.
Haidar, identified as the mastermind, conducted a recce before entering Harish’s residence through the roof. He assembled the gang and hired a vehicle for the abduction.
During interrogation, the accused revealed they blindfolded and tied Harish’s hands before forcibly taking him away. They looted a gold chain, gold coins, a diamond-studded ring, and Rs. 5,000 in cash. The kidnappers threatened to kill him with knives and demanded Rs. 3 crore in ransom. However, Harish managed to escape at a toll plaza near Toopran and alerted the police.
SP Sharmila praised the special team led by Nirmal ASP Rajesh Meena, as well as Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, and constables, for their swift action in nabbing the gang and solving the case in record time.
