Six arrested for killing wild boar, Asian Palm Civet in Mulugu
Komuraiah found a wild boar and an Asian Palm Civet trapped in an electric trench. After killing them, he informed a few residents of the Rangashaipet area, who came to his agricultural fields to buy the meat.
Mulugu: Forest officials arrested six persons involved in the poaching of a wild boar and an Asian Palm Civet and seized 50 kg of wild boar meat and 3 kg of Asian palm civet meat from their possession on the outskirts of Jakaram village of the district on Tuesday.
Mulugu Forest Range Officer (FRO) D Shankar said Komuraiah, a resident of Jakaram village, set up an electric trench for hunting wild boars in his agricultural fields on the outskirts of the village. On Tuesday morning, Komuraiya found a wild boar and an Asian Palm Civet stuck in the electric trench.
He killed both the animals and informed Parshuram, Raju, Somaiya, Komuraiya, and Raju, residents of Rangashaipet area of Khila Warangal, about the wild boar and Asia Palm Civet meat. They immediately took an an auto-rickshaw to purchase the meat at Komuraiah’s agricultural fields.
Meanwhile, the forest officials got the information about the incident and a team was rushed to Komuraiah’s fields. All the persons were arrested along with the meat and handed over to the local police. A case was registered under Section 9 r/w sector-2(16), 11, 12, 39(3), 29, 42, 48-A, 49(B) b, and r/w 42, 50, 51, and 57 of the Wildlife Act 1972, said Shankar.
