Six arrested for stealing electric motors, transformers in Mancherial

Mancherial police arrested six persons for allegedly stealing electric motors and power transformers from agricultural fields, houses and commercial establishments across several mandals. Police recovered copper wire, motorcycles, mobile phones and ₹50,000 in cash from the accused

Mancherial: Six persons were arrested on charges of stealing electric motors and power transformers installed in agricultural fields, houses and commercial establishments. Police recovered 10 kg of copper wire, two motorcycles, five mobile phones and Rs 50,000 in cash from them.

Briefing the media on the arrests, Bellampalli ACP Ravi Kumar said Bandi Neelesh, a mechanic, and Rebbena Srikanth, both from Rebbena; Dula Rajesham, Mesala Bikshapathi and Dula Naveen, from Thandur; and Egam Rajesh, a resident of Bellampalli, were apprehended for their alleged involvement in stealing electric motors and power transformers.

During interrogation, the six reportedly confessed to stealing the motors and transformers to lead a lavish lifestyle after forming a gang. They admitted to selling copper wire extracted from the motors and transformers. They told investigators that they had committed the offences in Thandur, Bheemini, Bellampalli, Nennal, Rebbena and Thiryani mandals.

Neelesh, Rajesh and Naveen were previously involved in crimes reported in different parts of the district.

Ravi Kumar commended Thandur Inspector Devaiah and his team for nabbing the six persons.
