Hyderabad: The Malkajgiri Cybercrime Police have busted six cybercrime cases in a week-long operation, arresting six offenders involved in investment, loan app and part-time job frauds between February 7 and 13.
Officials said the cases exposed a wider pan-India network of cybercriminals operating through mule bank accounts to siphon off defrauded funds.
Of the six cases, three were related to investment fraud, one to loan app fraud and two to part-time job scams.
In separate operations, police teams travelled to Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and other locations to apprehend the accused who allegedly provided bank accounts, withdrew funds and routed money to other fraud-linked accounts.
In a major relief to victims, the police facilitated refunds of Rs 16.90 lakh through court orders during the week.
Police urged citizens to remain cautious while responding to online investment offers, loan advertisements and part-time job proposals circulated through social media platforms.
They advised the public to verify platforms through official regulators and immediately report suspected fraud to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal or call 1930.
