Mancherial: Six persons were arrested for allegedly possessing and trading banned marijuana in several villages of Dandepalli and Jannaram mandals on Friday. Ganja weighing 2.910 grams was recovered from them.
Mancherial Assistant Commissioner of Police Akhil Mahajan said that the accused Kumram Shyamrao of Rajuguda village, Amula Vijay Kumar, Kursinga Jugadi Rao, Soyam Gangu, Pusam Champat Rao, Naitam Lingam, residents of Lothorre village in Jannaram mandal. Shyamrao and Vijay Kumar were held while disposing of the contraband substance and the others were apprehended when they possessed it.
The ACP further said that a total of 16 persons were arrested for smuggling prohibited ganja under the limits of Dandepalli police station. He warned that the PD Act would be invoked against offenders. He stated that counselling was being given to peddlers and consumers. He requested the public to share information about the menace with the police.
