Hyderabad: The Nizamabad police on Thursday arrested six persons in connection with the gang-rape of an 18-year-old degree student in the town on Tuesday night. Of the six accused, three sexually assaulted her at a private hospital under renovation when she was in an inebriated condition. When the police received a call from a shopping mall at 1.50 am on Wednesday, a police patrol team rushed to the spot and shifted the girl who was in a semiconscious state, to the government hospital in the district.
Nizamabad Commissioner of Police Kartikeya, addressing a press conference, said the victim revealed that she met an acquaintance in Nizamabad on September 28 and three of his friends joined them. They all moved around Nizamabad on two-wheelers, consumed beer and had food.
Subsequently, the four persons took her to a room in the private hospital and two more joined them. On seeing her in an intoxicated condition, three of them took advantage and raped her, police said. Based on her statement, the police booked a case under Sections 376 (D) and 342 read with 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with the provisions of SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and arrested all six persons.
