Six Maoists killed in encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district
Six Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Tuesday. Automatic weapons and explosives were recovered from the site, while combing operations are underway to trace other Maoists hiding in the forest area

Kothagudem: Six Maoists were killed in an encounter between security forces and Maoists in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Tuesday.
Bijapur Superintendent of Police Dr Jitendra Yadav said intermittent exchange of fire between joint teams of DRG Bijapur, DRG Dantewada along with STF and Maoists had been going on since 10 am in the National Park area in the district.
The bodies of six Maoists, automatic weapons (INSAS), sten guns, .303 rifles and other weapons, explosives and Maoist material have been recovered from the encounter site.
Bastar Range Inspector General of Police Sundarraj P said additional teams of DRG, STF, Bastar Fighters, CRPF, CAF police forces had been sent to surrounding areas to encircle other absconding Maoist cadres. The details of the Maoists killed in the encounter are not yet known.
