Hyderabad: The State government on Tuesday revoked the permission for six more private hospitals in the city to treat Covid-19 patients. The hospitals debarred from providing treatment to Covid patients were KIMS Hospital Secunderabad, Sunshine Hospital, Gachibowli, Century Hospital, Banjara Hills, Lotus Hospital, Lakdikapul, Medisys Hospital, LB Nagar and Integro Hospital, Tolichowki main road, Rethibowli.

So far, the Health department has taken action on 22 private hospitals by barring them from treating Covid-19 patients. Between May 31 and June 1, the department received 174 complaints related to excess and irrelevant charges, mismanagement, lack of proper care from patients and their attenders against 113 private hospitals.

Director of Public Health (DPH) Dr G Srinivasa Rao on Tuesday warned that suitable disciplinary action would be taken on private hospitals found guilty of violating established protocols, norms and guidelines for treating Covid-19 patients.

The Health department said the private hospitals could not treat any Covid patient, after completing treatment and discharging existing patients under their care.
