Mancherial: Six students of a government school sustained injuries when a jeep rammed into the auto rickshaw in which they were travelling on a narrow road beside a canal in Luxettipet town on Tuesday.
According to police, four students suffered fractures to their legs and hands, while two others sustained minor injuries when the jeep hit the three wheeler. The injured students were immediately shifted to a hospital and were discharged by evening.
A case was registered against the jeep driver based on a complaint lodged by the parents of one of the students. Police said investigation was taken up.
Parents alleged that the narrow road had been causing accidents at regular intervals. They expressed regret that irrigation officials had failed to address the issue despite repeated representations. They demanded installation of warning signboards to prevent mishaps and also sought widening of the road.
