Kothagudem: Police busted a treasure hunters’ gang and nabbed six persons at Bhadrachalam in the district on Thursday.
Assistant Superintendent of Police, G Vineeth, speaking to the media at Bhadrachalam, said a police patrolling team spotted six persons moving suspiciously at Rajupeta Colony and took them into custody.
During interrogation, they revealed their identity and confessed that they were in the hunt for a treasure in a house at Rajupeta Colony following revelation by a Hyderabad-based soothsayer, Srinivas, two months ago.
The accused were identified as Shaik Kareem, Gudise Raju, Parushetty Harshavardhan, Jangala Anil and K Praveen of Nalgonda district and Gutta Prasad of Yetapaka in East Godavari district in AP.
The police seized a metal cutter, a toy pistol, iron rods and a four wheeler. Bhadrachalam Inspector of Police T Swamy, SI, Venkateshwar Rao and others were present.
