Hyderabad: Tech giant Microsoft had a couple of years ago announced that it would retire video conferencing platform “Skype for Business” on July 31, 2021. On Saturday, Microsoft reminded its users that it was going to retire the platform as announced earlier.
Another widely popular video conferencing platform Teams, also developed by Microsoft, is now being dubbed as the successor of Skype for Business. Released in 2015, the communication platform aided users to message, call and video call each other in work context
The tech giant is now urging all its users to migrate to their latest offering Microsoft Teams, which came into prominence during the Covid-19-induced lockdown across the world, which is not only useful for business communications but also handy for consumer use.
What next for Skype for Business users?
There is absolutely no reason for Skype for Business users. Microsoft has laid out steps for its users to facilitate a smooth shift of their business from Skype to the Teams.
The transfer can be done in simple steps :
- Make sure that all the users (in your concerned teams) are ready to transfer all their information from Skype for Business to Teams. Give them enough time to adapt to Teams, which will help them figure out the new platform before important meetings.
- Take assistance of the “Free Upgrade Planning Workshop” offered by Microsoft to all the Skype for Business Online users to smoothly move their businesses to the new platform
Follow these steps for a smooth migration to Microsoft Teams and enjoy all the benefits that you have been given by the retiring platform.
