SLBC Tunnel collapse: Rock Mechanics Institute scientists inspect site

Hyderabad: All out efforts are still on to restore the Loco Train Track reaching out to the roof collapse site in the SLBC tunnel as senior scientists from the National Institute of Rock Mechanics conducted an inspection of the place of accident on Wednesday. Restoration of the loco train track is being carried out in alignment with excavation needs.
SLBC Tunnel Special Officer Shivashankar Lotheti conducted a review meeting with senior officials from the rescue teams at the Tunnel Inlet 1 Office. Simultaneously, activities like dewatering, excavation, and steel cutting are being executed in a parallel manner to expedite progress. Lotheti said that the rescue operations inside the SLBC tunnel have been intensified.
The officials informed that the conveyor belt operations and ventilation processes were advancing alongside the rescue efforts. The debris disposal is on at a brisk pace with the teams operating inside the tunnel stepping up the pace of works. The review meeting witnessed participation from Army officials, representatives from JayPee Associates, State Disaster Response Force Officer Giridhar Reddy, Singareni Mines rescue officials, HYDRAA officers, South Central Railway officials, and others.
