Hyderabad: The statining of the ambulances outside the Nagarkurnool Government hospital strenghthen the news that there are no survivors from the Srisailam Left Bank Canal (SLBC) tunnel collapse accident and that bodies have been found..
Reportedly, the bodies are being retrieved from the silt and debris accumulated in the tunnel and are likely to be shifted to Nagarkurnool District Hospital.
According to reports, officials have arranged eight private ambulances from Hyderabad to take the deceased to their native places. Additonally, the ambulance drivers were also informed in advance that they would have to drive to the said states.
However, there is no official confirmation about bodies being found
Meanwhile, concerns have also been raised over the lack of medical staff at the accident site. It is said that the workers trapped in the tunnel died as the ambulances arrived only with a pilot and no medical staff.
A portion of the SLBC tunnel had collapsed on February 22 and eight workers were trapped inside it. Nearly 600 personnel from 12 different departments have been taking up rescue operations.
