Wanaparthy: Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy has said that programmes like Harita Haram and Palle Pragathi would become successful only with the participation of people and their understanding of the issues. He was speaking with villagers of Peddagudem in Wanaparthy mandal after spending a night in the village as part of the sleep-over in the village programme.
The minister said only a combined effort of the people, officials and the elected representatives was a sureshot way of solving issues concerning the society. The Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has always maintained that social change would be possible only after people’s programmes become successful. The Chief Minister has been striving for the overall development of villages by initiating several welfare and development measures. Real development was possible only when villages become self-sufficient in all aspects.
With the government taking up several irrigation projects, rural economy got revived with every villager getting work. That was the reason why the Chief Minister had been focussing on the irrigation projects. In this backdrop, the sleep over programme was being taken up to understand the issues concerning people. The sleep over programmes would provide an opportunity for him to directly interact with the people and know the issues. The feedback provided would also help the government understand the priorities of the programmes to be taken up.
“I started the village sleep over programmes as the vice-chairman of the state planning board and am still continuing it as a minister also”, Niranjan Reddy recalled.
