Kumram Bheem Asifabad: A tribal farmer suffered injuries when a sloth bear attacked him at Thatiguda hamlet under Kohinoor gram panchayat in Sirpur (U) mandal on Thursday. The incident came to light on Friday. This is the second man-animal conflict reported from this region this week.
Sirpur (U) Forest Range Officer Bhumesh said Athram Bhimrao, a 45-year-old Raj Gond farmer from Thatiguda, was attacked by a male sloth bear which developed aggressive behaviour. Steps are being taken to prevent man-animal conflict and awareness is also being created among the rural folks on this issue, he said.
Bhimrao suffered injuries on his thighs when the wild animal pounced on him while he was working in his agriculture field on the fringes of the forest. He tried to climb a tree to escape from the bear but in vain. Some of his Bhimrao’s family members who were with him managed to rescue him and shifted him to hospital.
A few days back, Kanaka Chinnu, a shepherd, suffered injuries on his head when he was attacked by a sloth bear on the outskirts of Birnur village in Sirpur (U) mandal where he had taken his cattle for grazing. His medical condition is stable.
