Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Protesting against poor road conditions, students blocked traffic along the Dahegaon–Andevelli–Battupalli–Kagaznagar road on Friday, demanding immediate intervention from officials and elected representatives to improve waterlogged and slushy stretches worsened by recent rains.
Students from various government schools and junior colleges participated in the protest, expressing frustration over the prolonged apathy of the authorities. They said daily commuting had become a nightmare, with uniforms getting soiled and frequent delays in reaching their institutions.
In a related protest, residents of Somini village in Bejjur mandal staged a sit-in, highlighting the lack of motorable roads to nearby mandal headquarters and Kagaznagar town. Villagers said medical emergencies, particularly involving pregnant women, often turned critical due to muddy and inaccessible roads.

They feared complete isolation once local streams overflow during heavy rains, with the absence of bridges further worsening the situation. “Despite changes in elected representatives, our problems remain ignored,” one protester lamented.
Meanwhile, residents of Gudem village in Chintalamanepalli mandal also voiced concern over the deteriorating road connecting their village to the mandal centre. Recent downpours have made travel unsafe for two-wheeler and autorickshaw commuters.
In a bid to draw attention to the issue, villagers have started recording and sharing videos of the damaged roads across social media platforms, hoping to prompt action from the authorities.
