Khammam: The trial run of the first ever smart phone-based e-voting system in the State was conducted here on Wednesday.
A dummy election was held to test the mobile voting application under the limits of Khammam Municipal Corporation. Eligible voters who registered their names from Oct 8 to 18 in the app participated in the election.
According to officials, around 3,830 voters registered their names on the mobile app and on Wednesday around 2,128 persons took part in the e-voting conducted from 7 am to 5 pm.
There were complaints that despite the significance of the e-voting system, the election officials allegedly failed to educate the voters resulting in poor response to registration of voters on the app and the trial run.
