Hyderabad: Hyderabad’s poor form continued as they suffered their fourth loss in six games of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, narrowly losing by seven runs to Madhya Pradesh in the Group A clash in Rajkot on Tuesday.

Chasing a challenging target of 179, Hyderabad’s innings faltered at crucial junctures despite valiant efforts from skipper Tilak Varma (46 off 34 balls) and opener Tanmay Agarwal (47 off 33 balls). However, the middle-order collapse left Hyderabad struggling. Kumar Kartikeya’s three-wicket haul proved decisive, dismissing Rahul Buddhi and Mickil Jaiswal in quick succession. Kamal Tripathi chipped in with three wickets, keeping Hyderabad under pressure during the death overs. Despite late fireworks from Chama Milind (19 off 11), Hyderabad fell short, finishing at 171/9 in 20 overs. Madhya Pradesh’s disciplined bowling sealed their victory.

Earlier, Madhya Pradesh posted 178/8, powered by Harsh Gawli’s brisk 51 and Rajat Patidar’s fiery 36. Chama Milind (3/33) and Ajay Dev Goud (3/20) were the pick of the bowlers for Hyderabad.

Brief Scores: Madhya Pradesh 178/8 in 20 overs (Harsh Gawli 51, Subhranshu Senapati 42, Ajay Dev Goud 3/20, Chama Milind 3/33) bt Hyderabad 171/9 in 20 overs (Tilak Varma 46, Tanmay Agarwal 47; Kumar Kartikeya 3/25, Kamal Tripathi 3/31).
