Soldier returning to duty beaten to death in shocking Rajasthan case
Army Havildar Vikram Singh was allegedly beaten to death by two youths in Palota Ka Bas village, Rajasthan, while returning to duty. Police have detained two suspects and are probing the motive using mobile and call record analysis.
Jaipur: In a shocking incident, Army Havildar Vikram Singh (40) was allegedly beaten to death by two youths in Palota Ka Bas village, under Surajgarh police station limits in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district, late Tuesday night.
The jawan, serving with the 18 Raj Rifles and posted in Abohar, Punjab, was returning to duty after a period of leave when the incident occurred. According to a complaint filed by his brother Vinod Kumar, Vikram left home on Tuesday night but was intercepted en route by two local youths in a Scorpio SUV.
The accused allegedly forcibly took Vikram Singh to their house and brutally assaulted him. Later, they dumped him outside their residence in a critical condition. The victim’s family rushed him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Station Officer Hemraj Meena confirmed that a case of murder has been registered based on the family’s complaint. Two suspects were detained on Wednesday for questioning.
Police are examining mobile location data, call records, and other electronic evidence to determine the motive behind the attack. Sources said that Havildar Vikram Singh was nearing retirement, with only a year of service remaining.
The incident has sparked outrage in the village and among the armed forces community, with calls for swift and stringent action.
