‘Soundscapes of Telangana’ showcases folk, classical music at IAPCON 2026
The open-air amphitheatre at Taramati Baradari hosted ‘Soundscapes of Telangana’ during IAPCON 2026. Folk and classical musicians showcased rare instruments, aiming to preserve Telangana’s musical heritage while offering cultural exposure to conference delegates.
Hyderabad: The open-air amphitheatre at Taramati Baradari reverberated with ‘Soundscapes of Telangana’, presenting Telangana folklore and Indian classical music for the delegates of 33rd IAPCON 2026, organised by Indian Association of Palliative Care, Sparsh Hospice, Hyderabad and Basavatarakam Indo-American Cancer Hospital and Research Centre.
The event provided a platform for Kinnera folk singer Dakkali Poschappa, Dasari Kondappa playing the Burra Veena, Ganesh playing the Kommu/Dakki, Ramamurthy on the Runjha and other local artistes in Hyderabad on Tabla, Rhythm pads and Saxophone.
The purpose of the platform was to provide exposure to these artistes, look into ways of protecting the future of these rare musical instruments and think of ways and means to take forward this rich heritage of Telangana.
Jaywant Naidu, a performer of Indian classical music on Hawaiian Slide Guitar, was also part of the event. Jaywant has performed with many Manganiar folk musicians from the Barmer region of Rajasthan, and the musicians performed at several national and international platforms.
