South Central Railway replacing MLCs with ROB, RUB
As many as 81 Manned Level Crossings have been replaced with Limited Height Subways (LHS), Road under Bridges (RUBs) and Road Over Bridges during the 2020-21 financial year.
Hyderabad: South Central Railway is on a mission to improve safety at Manned Level Crossings and rationalisation of such gates was progressing rapidly to provide safety to road users.
As many as 81 Manned Level Crossings have been replaced with Limited Height Subways (LHS), Road under Bridges (RUBs) and Road Over Bridges during the 2020-21 financial year. During the current financial year 2021-22, so far, seven Manned Level Crossings have been removed. SCR has taken up the removal of the manned level crossing gates in a phased manner by providing alternative arrangements such as construction of LHS, RUBs and ROBs with the co-operation and participation of the State government.
June 10 is observed as International Level Crossing Awareness Day (ILCAD) which focuses on educational measures and the promotion of safe behaviour at and around level crossings.
SCR General Manager Gajanan Mallya called upon road users and vehicle drivers to be cautious at the approach of Railway Level Crossings. He advised the road users to be alert while driving through Railway Level Crossings and not to endanger precious lives by ignoring the safety guidelines.
