Hyderabad: Kolkata Knight Riders bowling coach Tim Southee says that the bowlers should win the powerplay by taking early wickets.

Speaking to media on the eve of the IPL league match against Sunrisers here on Saturday , Southee says it will be a great challenge for the bowlers against top heavy batting line-up.

“But, it also presents a great opportunity for the bowlers against such a dangerous side,” he said.”Yes, the bowlers have to find ways to be successful and we have bowlers like Sunil Narine who can do that,” Southee said.

The KKR bowling coach , himself one of the bowling greats from New Zealand, says that they are hoping to continue the momentum from their good showing in the previous games.”It is nice to have a long break right in the middle of the IPL. We hope to continue the good form,” he said.

On Sri Lankan Matheesha Pathirana, Southee says he has joined the team and has been bowling well in the nets. “But, again, a call will be taken on selection for the playing eleven depending on different factors like the playing conditions and the balance by way of picking foreign players,” he said.

Questioned whether this has been the toughest IPL season for bowlers, Southee says it has been the case over the last few seasons and the Impact Sub has had a great influence on taking batting deep down the order.
