Hyderabad: In a major relief for the general public and the farming community, who have been waiting with bated breath for the Southwest Monsoons to gain strength, the India Meteorological Department (IMD), New Delhi on Thursday indicated that monsoons will revive its march across Telangana from Tuesday, June 23.

“The Southwest monsoon is likely to advance into some more parts of Telangana, Odisha, Jharkhand Bihar, and some parts of Chhattisgarh around June 23, June, 2026, the IMD, New Delhi weather bulletin said.

According to the latest bulletins from IMD, New Delhi, atmospheric conditions have turned favorable, setting the stage for the monsoon to regain momentum and advance across the remaining parts of the state over the next four to five days.

While the monsoon’s Northern Limit has been hovering near Hyderabad and Bhadrachalam, the meteorologists from IMD are now projecting a definitive shift in weather patterns.

The IMD’s forecast points to a decisive turning point on June 21, when the present isolated rainfall activity is expected to transition into ‘widespread’ rainfall across multiple regions of Telangana.

By Tuesday, June 23, the monsoon is anticipated to establish a firmer grip, effectively covering the state and providing much-needed relief from the lingering summer heat, the IMD indicated.

The upcoming revival of monsoons is also supported by a key meteorological shift, which is a drop in temperatures. The IMD is projecting a gradual fall in maximum temperatures by 2 degrees Celsius and 3 degrees Celsius starting Friday, June 19.

As the heat-wave-prone dry mass of air, which had been causing the heatwaves in June, starts to retreat, it will be replaced by moisture-laden cold winds, paving the way for a more consistent rainy season.

The IMD, New Delhi made it clear that Telangana will experience isolated to scattered rainfall likely over between June 17 and 20. After that, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is likely to occur from June 21 in all parts of Telangana.

There will be isolated thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph) over Telangana between June 17 and 18, the IMD, New Delhi added.
