Sowmya selected for Indian women’s football team for AFC Cup 2026
G Sowmya from Telangana has been selected for the Indian Senior women’s national team for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026. The team trained in Turkey before arriving in Perth and will face Vietnam and Japan in the group stage
Hyderabad: G Sowmya from Telangana has been selected for the Indian Senior women’s national team squad for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026.
G Sowmya is currently serving as an Assistant Manager at State Bank of India, LHO Koti, and her selection to the national squad is a matter of great pride for the state of Telangana, TFA Secretary G Paluna said on Saturday.
The Indian team completed a four-week preparatory camp in Turkey before arriving in Perth on 11 February 2026.
India will play their first match against Vietnam on March 4, followed by their second match against Japan on March 7 at the Perth Rectangular Stadium, Australia.
