SP Akhil Mahajan pays homage to sniffer dog Runie in Adilabad
Sniffer dog Runie, credited with helping Adilabad police solve 250 cases and arrest 20 offenders, died of age-related issues. SP Akhil Mahajan paid tribute to her decade-long service and asked officials to provide proper amenities for all sniffer dogs.

Adilabad: Paying homage to sniffer dog Runie who died here, Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan said Runie had played a vital role in cracking several tough cases.
The sniffer, belonging to the 2012 batch, was instrumental in solving 250 cases and arresting 20 offenders in its 10-year stint, he said, adding that Runie had successfully caught accused persons in murders and house burglaries. She rendered outstanding service to the department, he said, asking police officials to ensure all amenities for sniffer dogs.
Born in 2010, Runie retired in 2021 after serving the department for a decade. She died of age-related ailments. Duty officer Dattu Ram, handler P Ganganna, dog squad staffers S Thirumalesh, Dinesh and others were present.
