Kumram Bheem Asifabad: In-charge Superintendent of Police V Satyanarayana said that the traffic signals island was created in Asifabad for reducing road accidents. He formally inaugurated the traffic signal system in Asifabad town on Wednesday. He was joined by Collector Rahul Raj.

Satyanarayana stated that the district headquarters of the newly formed district was registering a rise in vehicular movement and in road accidents as well. The traffic signals were established as part of the police department’s efforts to curb the road mishaps. It is the first-ever facility to come up in the town. It will be a part of history, he opined.

The IPS officer further said that the signals would play a vital role in bringing down road mishaps. He stated that the system would be useful to all sections of society. He informed that its presence was equal to 10 constables.

He opined that speed breakers, signboards cautioning accident-prone areas, removal of trees on either side of a road and involvement of locals in road safety could reduce mishaps, he added.

Additional Superintendent of Police Sudheendra, Asifabad DSP Acheshwar Rao, Asifabad ZPTC member A Nageshwar Rao, Road Transport Officer Srinivas and Inspector Ashok Kumar were present.
