Special call that made Harish Rao happy after convoy pile-up
Chimney Bai, a tribal woman from Sardar Thanda called up the Minister minutes after his accident, to enquire about his well-being and also travelled 30 kms on the next day to meet him in person
Sangareddy: Finance Minister T Harish Rao, whose convoy met with an accident on Sunday near Siddipet, received phone calls from Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and several other leaders.
But a phone call from a tribal woman from a remote tribal thanda of Narayankhed in Sangareddy district was extra special for Harish Rao.
Chimney Bai, a resident of Sardar Thanda in Kangti mandal of Sangareddy district, called up Harish Rao at 8.30 pm on Sunday, minutes after the accident, to enquire about his well-being. The 50-year-old Lambada woman was there in Borancha in Manur mandal on Monday morning to meet Harish Rao, travelling 30 kms from Sardar Thanda to see the Minister who launched the survey works for Basaveshwara Lift Irrigation Project (BLIP).

Rao said he was very happy when Chimney Bai called him minutes after the accident. Speaking to Telangana Today, Chimney Bai said she was worried when she saw the breaking news on TV channels about the accident on Sunday night. Without any hesitation, Chimney Bai said she made a phone call to enquire about the Minister’s well-being.
Chimney Bai has a six-year association with Harish Rao. When the Minister was campaigning for the 2016 Narayankhed by-election, he addressed an election meeting when Chimney Bai stood up to raise a few problems her village was facing then. She complained that they could not even find a bride for her son since there was a serious drinking water issue. After the 2016 by-election which the TRS won, Harish Rao addressed the drinking water issue immediately, laid roads and released grants for other works for Sardar Thanda.
Since then, Chimney Bai participates in all the meetings of Harish Rao whenever he visits Narayankhed. The Minister had also shared his phone number with Chimney Bai. Rao posed for pictures with her during his Borancha meeting.
