Special children celebrate International Yoga Day with yoga, plantation drive

Special children at the Manasa Institute of Child Health & Disability Studies celebrated the eve of International Yoga Day through yoga demonstrations and a plantation drive. The programme promoted fitness, inclusion, environmental awareness, and holistic development among children with intellectual disabilities.

Hyderabad: Special children of Manasa Institute of Child Health & Disability Studies celebrated the eve of International Yoga Day with a vibrant programme combining Yoga, environmental awareness, and community participation.

The event featured Yoga demonstrations by special children, who performed various yogic practices with enthusiasm and confidence. The programme highlighted the importance of Yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, concentration, and emotional balance among children with special needs.


A plantation activity was also organised as part of the celebrations. Students planted mango, ginger, and turmeric seedlings in grow bags prepared from reused rice bags, reinforcing the values of sustainability, environmental responsibility, and hands-on learning.

G Vijaya Bhanu, Principal, Manasa Special School, said that the event is intended to promote holistic development, inclusion, and environmental consciousness among children with intellectual disabilities.

The programme was attended by Dr Uday M Chaudhari, Former Additional General Manager, BHEL (R&D), K Malla Reddy, Agricultural Officer, Suryapet; R Sushma, Technical Officer, TCS; and V Balakrishna Murthy, former Teacher, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya.
