Peddapalli: Welfare Minister Koppula Eashwar on Sunday said the State government had accorded top priority to the welfare of people with disabilities. Instead of humiliating people with disabilities, people should respect them and show love and affection to them, he said.
The Minister was speaking at a function at the agriculture market yard here where he distributed accessories to disabled people.
Eashwar said Telangana was the only State which was providing Rs 3,016 pension to disabled people, who used to get only Rs 500 pension during the united Andhra Pradesh. However, the amount has been enhanced to Rs 3,016 after the formation of Telangana State.

Moreover, the State government has also enhanced disabled marriage incentive to Rs l lakh from Rs 50,000.
On the other hand, the government was also supplying accessories to physically-challenged people on subsidy to ensure the latter could lead a life with self-confidence.
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao made the highest allocations in the last budget to provide accessories to PHC candidates on subsidy, he informed and added that every eligible person would be provided accessories in a phased manner.
Providing welfare schemes to the last beneficiary was the aim of the Chief Minister. Similarly, disabled persons would be provided accessories on saturation method, he said.
State government has sanctioned 274 accessories to the district. A total of 194 persons made applications and 130 applications were approved. Accessories are being provided to 114 beneficiaries in the programme, the Minister informed and assured to provide accessories to remaining people by approving their applications very soon. All measures have been taken for the welfare of disabled persons under the leadership of the Chief Minister, he said.
Peddapalli MLA Dasari Manohar Reddy, Additional collector (local bodies) Kumar Deepak, municipal chairperson Dr Mamatha Reddy, district welfare office Rouf Khan and others participated in the programme.
