Hyderabad: The Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie, Director, K Srinivas inaugurated Special Foundation Course 2022, for 212 All India Services and Central Civil Services officers, at Dr MCR HRD Institute on Saturday. Several dignitaries, including Harpreet Singh, Director General of the institute and Special Chief Secretary to Government of Telangana attended the virtual event. Srinivas released the course manual via virtual mode and also administered the oath to the officer trainees. In his inaugural address, he placed emphasis on the fundamental values of civil services, which include austerity, ability, and anonymity and advised them to breathe these values which will enable them to be successful in their careers. He stated that austerity results in optimum use of public money and resources, ability on the part of civil servants is instrumental in delivery of services to all sections of society, especially their weaker counterparts, and lastly, anonymity leads to team effort. “Dignity of the citizen is manifested in how he/she is respected and treated in our offices. It is revealed in how far a citizen’s right to access public services is protected,” he stated and added that civil servants have a duty to live by the constitutional values, imbibing them in their personal and professional lives.
Emphasising on the need for the officers to go beyond their jobs to assist the citizens, Harpreet Singh stated that the pedagogy approach adopted by the institute ensures that officer trainees are evaluated continuously instead of the traditional paper and pen exams at the end of the training. The innovations in training, comprising writing policy papers, participating in debates and elocution, and learning from live case studies bring about holistic development of the officer trainees.
On this occasion, Benhur Mahesh Dutt Ekka, Additional Director General, Divya Parmar, Course Director also addressed the students.
