There are four Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) procurement centres in the district. Last Thursday, the officials concerned were directed to issue tokens to farmers for the procurement of paddy, cotton and maize.

The date allotted to the farmers has to be informed to them beforehand so that they could arrive at the procurement centres on the given date and it would help to prevent rush at the procurement centres.
Serious action would be taken against agriculture officers if anyone was found neglecting issuing of tokens, he warned while informing that a meeting would be held on Thursday to review the progress in the issuing of tokens to the farmers.
For the maize farmers who have not registered online, the tokens have to be issued by recording their details in a physical register. There were 12 centres for maize procurement. Steps have to be taken to increase the centres if needed, he noted.
